Source of Powers: A Sinestro power ring, created by the Weaponers of Qward. She needs to charge this ring once every 24 hours at a yellow power battery, which was made of Earth-2 Starheart green metal, which has since become yellow. She uses her ring to transform her ordinary clothing into her costume. The ring is able to absorb most kinds of energy, but it is not very efficient in transforming most types into the yellow energy that it uses to operate. For example, a lightning bolt might recharge the ring for 10 minutes or so of full power operation. As long as it has power, the ring is able to maintain a shirt-sleeve environment inside the force field around the user.
Knowledge and skills: Alex is by nature calm and analytical, but also very creative. She is a superb photographer and a good writer. She has trained with Green Lantern and Jade in the use of her ring, and other members of the JSA in other hero-related skills. Additionally, for a time she was mind-melded with the yellow Starheart entity of Earth-3 and gained some additional knowledge of its capabilities from the meld. Also, the ring is programmed towards bringing ‘order’, and when used in the service of ‘order’ it cooperates with Alex and works more smoothly and efficiently than when she undertakes actions its intended owner Sinestro might disapprove of. Unlike the Green Lantern rings, Corona's ring does not communicate with her, though it did one time when it was in the actual presence of the Earth-3 Starheart, its initial power source. The original Star Sapphire is able to absorb the yellow power of Corona's ring.
Weapons and Gadgets: The ring and the yellow power battery
History: A lost Weaponer of Qward popped into the wrong universe with a delivery for Sinestro, a new yellow power ring. His time in the E2 universe was limited, so he gave the ring to the first person he saw, Kyle Rayner, who was a little intoxicated at the time. Kyle almost forgot the whole incident, and when Alex discovered the ring he gave it to her. When she put it on, it shrunk to fit her finger. She accidentally discovered that it gave her powers, and she instantly flew to Gotham City to see if Green Lantern might tutor her in the use of her new powers. He did, and she got additional training from other members of the JSA, including Wildcat, and also Jade, Green Lantern’s daughter. Green Lantern built her a power battery using Starheart metal. She soon discovered that the ring was trying to control her mind, making her more like Sinestro; after she resisted its initial efforts, she and Green Lantern worked together to eradicate the Sinestro personality from the ring’s programming.
Shortly after she received the ring, a criminal took control of Kyle’s mind and gave him powers as Powerston and she was forced to battle her ex-boyfriend.
When the Justice Society was drawn into Limbo to battle Ragnarok, Shierra Saunders deputized Alex and several other heroes as members of the JSA Reserve. For a while, she was the mentor to the Jr. JSA, and Damage had a crush on her before he met Air Wave.
In one adventure, she came under the mental control of the Monocle; after the incident with the ring attempting to control her mind, and someone else actually controlling her mind, she has since ordered the ring to constantly protect her from mental attacks.(Partial) list of 5EP appearances: (links)
