Powers: Pre-curse: super strength, super speed, invulnerability, plus an all-element Sun Metal ring that could transform objects, allow him to fly safely at multi-light speed and travel through time and space. These powers came from his exposure to Sunergy, energy generated by Sun Metal, a metal formed by fusing all of the elements together into a radioactive compound, created by his genius father. Self-duplication; he created an identical version of himself so one Atom could roam the solar system having adventures while the other could remain at home and live the normal life of a super powered teenager. Currently: now a powerful, though immature wizard who has demonstrated the abilities to fly, enclose himself in a protective shield, materialize simple objects (such as a puddle of oil), teleport others, sense magic, clairvoyance and clairaudience through the casting of illusions. Source of Powers: Formerly, Atom was exposed to Sunergy while growing up. He later discovered a wishing ring made of Sun Metal that gave him additional powers. When he was cursed by Blaze and Satanus (see below) his superhuman powers were stripped away, and he gained magical abilities instead.
Knowledge and skills: Atom is a genius. He has firsthand knowledge of several of the planets in the solar system and also Mercury in the far future. He is a very good baseball player. And he is a grad student in Magical Studies at Grimoire Academy.
Weapons and Gadgets: his Sunmetal ring; as a mage, his magical apparatus and tomes History: Atom was born in 1925 and his exposure to Sunergy while growing up had caused him to develop amazing super-powers as he grew up. During his youth, he had only been nicknamed the Boy Wizard because of the amazing super-strength, speed, and invulnerability that had been granted to him by his father, brilliant physicist Stuart Blake. Atom also been left an amazing sunergy ring by his father that could make the impossible become true. In 1950, he had battled and lost to the demons Blaze and Satanus, who had punished him be reverting him to perpetual six-year-old boyhood and stipping away his super powers, though they had accidentally granted him magical powers instead. While he spent nearly forty years with the body and emotional maturity of a young child and his control of magic grew, Atom had attempted to cure his condition — there might be many people who thought immortality to be a blessing, but Atom realized that being stuck at six forever would be intolerable. He had been twenty-five and courting the woman he planned to marry when the demons had cursed him, and he remembered the glimpses he’d had of some of the joys of life that he would forever be denied if he remained trapped at six. Eventually had enrolled at the Grimoire Academy, in the hopes of learning enough magic to lift the curse. Atom had already reaped unexpected benefits from his studies, since another part of his curse was a kind of magical narcolepsy: immediately after using his powers, he would fall into deep sleep for several hours, like a tuckered-out child. His drowsiness ended up being rather inconvenient in the middle of a battle versus magical foes. And so, in an advanced alchemy class, he’d learned to create an energy potion — something like Jolt Cola, only more effective. As long as he could drink a shot of his potion every couple of hours, he could keep his affliction under control. (*) But Headmaster Gallowglass had never even acknowledged the existence of the White School in all his time on Grim Island. Atom wondered why that was. Perhaps, if the island really had a consciousness of its own, it may have chosen Mr. Gallowglass as its new master and protector, even if he wasn’t very forthcoming about any of the details with anyone but his most trusted advisors, Earth-One’s Doctor Mist and the wizard Shazam himself. But when Captain Marvel and four mystical heroes from the other Earths convinced young Gary Gallowglass to found a school on Grimoire Island, it was almost as if destiny stepped in and took over. (*) young Gallowglass, with his talent for creating things out of nothing A one-eyed man in a brown suit approached from a set of bungalows on a cliff overlooking the beach. His hard face seemed closed as he regarded them with his blue eye. “My name is Gallowglass,” the man said. “Welcome to the Grimoire Academy of Applied Knowledge. A strange plant has been found on the shores of Grimoire Island. Could it be behind a rash of rage-induced insanity? Meanwhile, Gallowglass discovers that Abby Cable has left the island against his wishes. Will it take the Grimoire Academy headmaster’s first departure from the island in nearly forty years to bring her back? The other was Gareth Gallowglass, headmaster of the school. He was starting his morning tour in the Memorial Park as he always did, come rain or shine. From this solemn point, marked by the seven statues of forgotten heroes, he would tour the island to make sure things were secure and in place for the coming day. Most knew not to bother the man this early in the day. He preferred to do this duty in silence, though inevitably he was forced to discipline some wayward child as they broke one of the many school rules. Only then did she let the air out of her lungs in a sigh of relief. I hate to deal with him this early, she thought to herself. A woman deserves to have her morning coffee first. the stern and volatile Gallowglass. Headmaster Gallowglass thought he had learned of all the natural plants that had ever grown on Earth since the dinosaurs. Gallowglass’ eye opened, white hot with fury. The spores, inside him and out, burned up at his unspoken command. He felt a bit stronger, his breath able to return without a stinging sensation. Spinning around, he turned his attention to the plant itself. You are the cause! You do not belong here! A small flame marked the plant’s passing as it combusted at Gallowglass’ thought. The headmaster let his mind wander, to reach out across the island. There are others! the one-eyed man realized, and little fires sprang into existence all over the island. Then, as suddenly as they burned, they vanished. Small puffs of smoke drifted in the air and then slowly vanished in the morning light. Make that were. Gallowglass did not take kindly to unwanted guests on the island, be they man, animal, or plant.

Wildfire
Wildfire first appeared in “Introducing Wildfire,” Smash Comics #25 (August, 1941)
Dr. Doome has some kind of time displacement invention
Fire occurred in August 1926. Frank Vance, a forest ranger, is killed in a forest fire. His wife dies when their cabin burns. 3 year old Carol sees a the flaming face of 'The Lord of Fire' (referred to later as 'The God of Fire') in the conflagration and greets him happily: "Oh! Are you Mr. Fire? I like fire!" The Lord of Fire is impressed with her courage and cheerfulness, and grants her immunity to fire and control over flames (supreme contol of the powers of fire): "I shall spare you, oh fearless child! I now give you immunity against death or injury be fire, and make you Mistress of Flame!" ('...gave her powers equal to his own...')
The next day, the wealthy Mr. John Martin and Mrs. Martin read about the child's miraculous survival and decide to adopt her. She grows up rich and pampered. Pleasantville is a nearby town. Her parents think she is always craving excitement and has a wild imagination. But when excitement occurs, she claims to feel faint to get away to change. Her father behaves heroically when facing brutal criminals with guns. THe Martins live in NY City in Sept 1982, and they have a summer house a half hour drive outside the city. At that time, she is a volunteer air raid warden, who walks the streets during blackouts and makes sure no one is breaking the rules or showing lights.
She must have adventures before the first published ones, becase people recognize her instantly: "Look! That mysterious woman - they call her WILDFIRE!" "No one knows who she is... watch her handle this blaze!"
She wears her costume under her civilian outfit: a red sling bikini top which ties behind her neck, a tiara that resembles flames, high waisted red shorts, high heeled knee high boots with flame shaped cutouts or decorations on the back of her calves, and has a mane of firey red hair that reaches to her ankles and streams behind her as she flies. It never seems to get in her way. She doesn't seem to look any different as Carol, though her hair is much shorter. Perhaps she blurs her features with heat as Wildfire.
X (new issue) One evening, when she is 18, she spots a fire engine racing past the Martin mansion, and feels drawn to the fire - and miraculosly changes to Wildfire, Princess of Flame, with a mission to use her powers as the nemesis of all those who break man's laws, particularly those who use flame for evil and destructive purposes. She can fly... she commands the flames of a burning munitions plant to compress into a fireball she can hold in her hands, she senses that this fire was set by arsonists, and she orders the fireball to lead her to them - and as they get close, the fireball changes shape to become a glowing hand, pointing a flame-tipped finger at the bad guys. She commands the hand to grab them and then carry them to the police station, where it drops them dazed to the sidewalk in front of some cops who instantly recognize the arsonists. Wildfire absorbs the hand and flies away to capture the bundist who commanded the arsonists. She attacks with flame darts, which only do minor damage, blocks bullets with a flame shield which melts tham, exhibits super strength ('...a fire-propelled fist...) and she sets the bad guys clothes on fire.
X She doesn't seem to flame as she flies. Her flame darts set rubber car tires on fire and she car fire them accurately enough to hit the tires on a speeding car. She can create constructs of fire, such as a flaming ring that can wrap around and destroy a gun. She may leave behind a glowing red streak as she flies. She draws flames after her, and then throws them into the water to extinguish them. She is very agile. And not above killing a bad guy in flames because he tried to use flame for evil purposes.
X She absorbs the flames from an entire burning town, and throws the resulting fireball into a river. She absorbs fire from a flamethrower and throws it back, uses her flame darts to destroy guns, and grabs a man, without incinerating him, with a giant flaming hand ('the Fiery Hand of Fate').
X she molds existing flames into an axe and a spear. Creates a lariat out of flame which is strong enough to suspend three men off the floor but not burn them. A flaming pitchfork which doesn't burn the bad guys.
Skip from #29 to #35
X she can carry a man with one hand as she flies. vulnerable to chloroform.
X a firehouse temporarily nullifies her powers. she is chloroformed and thrown into a fire. She draws strength and health from the flames. She makes a flame boomerang which doesn't burn the bad guys.
X she gives a kid a can holding a magic candle. When he opens the can, the flame calls Wildfire to help the kid who is in trouble. If releases a 'little flame man' who flies to Carol and then sits on her shoulder to guide her back to the kid.
X Frozen stiff with liquid nitrogen. Thawed out by a fire around her. Creates giant letters (like the hollywood sign) out of flame which persist after she leaves the area.
X she causes a stick to flame and the throws it and guides it to hit the bad guys. She is a blackout warden, and at the end of the story, she knocks out two bad buys as Carol, having decided to abandon the weak little rich girl pose.

Mistress of Flame Civilian ID: Carol Vance Martin Civilian Occupation: pampered rich debutante, Volunteer Air Raid Warden Appearance: Tall and lithe with waist length red-hair. As Wildfire, her hair shimmers like flame and falls to her ankles. She may use heat waves to blur her face in her Wildfire identity. She wears her Wildfire costume under her civilian clothes. 5 Earths Universe: Earth X Base of Operations: Lives with her parents in NY City. Powers: Control of flames and fires. She can cause things to burn, absorb fire, create flaming constructors, or create constructs of 'solid flame' which may be very warm but do not actually burn. She can throw fireballs and flame darts capable of destroying pistols and causing rubber tires to catch fire, accurately enough to hit hands or the tires on a moving car. She can create a flaming shield which melts bullets. She can create constructs of flame, and she can create constructs of 'solid flame' which do not burn whatever they touch. She can fly and she has 'fire powered' super strength. Flames can talk to her, and she once created a candle that could be used to 'summon' her - the candle created a tiny fiery sprite which carried a message and then guided her back to the one who owned the candle. Source of Powers: magical, granted by a powerful fire elemental
Knowledge and skills: Carol is extremely agile. She is expert at navigating through wealthy society in the early 40s. As a blackout warden, she is familiar with the laws and regulations governing civilian behavior during blackouts and periods of declared emergencies, and has received training in first aid. Weapons and Gadgets: her flame constructs and 'solid fire' creations
History: As a toddler, Carol lived in a cabin in the forest and her father Frank was a ranger. Her parents perished in a forest fire in 1941, but during the fire, three year old Carol wandered into the woods and was fascinated, rather than terrified by the fire. A fire elemental saw her and was captivated by her cheerful greeting ("Oh! Are you Mr. Fire? I like fire!") and he granted her powers ("I shall spare you, oh fearless child! I now give you immunity against death or injury be fire, and make you Mistress of Flame, equal to my own!"). She was quickly adopted by the Martins, who read the story of her miraculous survival in the newspaper. She must have had some unrecorded but public adventures as Wildfire while she was growing up, as during her first published story she was already instantly recognized by civilians.
